Syrian Portrait; A Painted Collection, 2023

This collection is daughter to the photography exhibition, Syrian Portrait, commissioned by the Syrian Embassy, London in 2010; originally exhibited at The Second Wife alongside words from journalist and author, Yvonne Ridley.

The exhibition displayed the obvious and hidden beauties of a country months away from war. The route followed that of the Silk Road and through the lens a warmth was captured– a welcoming of a people that walked with open hearts.

Painting these became a conversation when the world was quiet, for a spell.
